I was taking today to sort of stock up my energy for tomorrow, so I didn’t get out much. I did get to the café later in the evening. Didn’t do full setups, but I did some rough comparisons. Hopefully, I can do some better ones later. Part of the issue is working around other [...]

The menu this weekend at the café was SO, SO good. If you were in town and missed it, I feel sorry for you. Truly sorry. I was surprised at how much I liked it, even. Everything about it was a delight. And, here are the photos:

I did get out and about some today, but I didn’t feel like pulling out my camera and shooting at the metal bar. I did, however, do some nice, set up stuff at the café. I need to keep playing around with different lighting arrangements, but I’m happy with what I got.

I’ve been out of the café some weekends, like this one and last, so I could concentrate more on some of these other projects. I popped in tonight since it’s the last time I’ll get to be in there before I leave Paris for the summer. Kind of sad, but I’m super thankful for all [...]
You Don’t Even Know

Or, more precisely, I didn’t even know. Apparently, this is something that other people have thought to do lots and lots before, but I had extra bananas today and was wondering what I could do with them, so I thought to myself, “Hmm . . . Coat them with sugar and fry them.” It is [...]

Today, we were visited by new friends and old from around the globe. Mexico, the US, Norway, France, Switzerland, England, S. Korea, etc. It was a good time and the neighborhood got to see a rare sight – the café open and packed for lunch on a weekday (we’re only open Friday & Saturday nights). [...]

Well, not really. But . . . Maybe. Anyway, here are a couple photos of the weekend’s food.

Little Africa (kind of the ghetto and kind of like going to the streets of a third world country with the street market, etc.), shopping for groceries for the café, cooking stuff, photographing . . . Been a full day. It’s about 02h30, so past bedtime, but I wanted to get these up. Metro entrance [...]

Tonight’s main course: Kangaroo. Yum. We followed up last week’s Thai curry with a Vietnamese curry and it’s so good. So very good. Anyway, I started off the day with a bit of work around the flat, but then off to the café and now I’m around trying to do a bit more before I [...]
Midnight At the . . . Café

Another café day, so aside from a bit of shopping, I didn’t get out much before we got into full swing there. It was a good day, but exhausting. After we were nearly wrapped up, I decided that I wanted something other than café photos for my post today, so I went out for a [...]

A Nice, Simple French Meal
Posted: Wed 24 March 2010 in Cuisine, Photo-A-Day Project, photographyTags: daily photo, Paris, photography
Baguette and camebert. Simple. Delightful. This evening, I hosted a group for language exchange here in the flat, but I didn’t quite get around to eating supper before they came, so after a great time of sharing and learning together, I’m here at nearly 11:30 having a quick bite while I round off the day’s [...]
Packed Out Night

We were prepared for 24 people and received 27. Means we (meaning not me) had to come up with something to feed the remaining 3. Turned out all right in the end. Everyone loved the meal. Totally digging my über wide-angle lens for the café and for Paris in general. Love the way I can [...]
Something Fishy

I’m dead tired. If the bathroom were not otherwise occupied at the moment, I would be in there and off to bed nearly straightaway. As it is, I need to wait a few minutes and then I’ll get to crash. I’ve been feeling so exhausted this week, so being able to catch up a bit [...]
I only burned my hand today

Well, it’s another great day here in Paris. Actually, it’s nighttime now. But, it WAS a great day here. A couple drizzles that I missed and the famously grey skies Paris is known for. Started my day a little early for me, being a night person and all, and just kept going all day. Well. [...]

Here are a few photos from today. Another busy one . . . I woke up, took care of trying to organize my space a bit better then pretty much right away went to meet Jono to do some shopping for what we needed today in the café and then went on with that. Oh, [...]
Getting Settled In

Wednesday morning, I arrived, made it through the airport and into the city, where I’ll be staying. I have a small room in an apartment in the 19th arrondissement, which is Northeast of the center of the city by a few kilometers. Last night (Thursday), I had a nice long walk from here down to [...]
I may not be in France right now, but I can still cook with butter
Posted: Wed 6 January 2010 in CuisineI did it. I cooked a delightful French favorite. I made a small mess. It was delicious. Simple salad for an entrée and then the main was steamed asparagus and chicken breast cooked with olive oil and Herbes de Provence served with beurre blanc with an HdP garnish. Heavenly.
